Betty Jo Carson Snow Shamel

Mrs. Betty Jo Carson Snow Shamel, 91, of Pilot Mountain, passed away peacefully at her home February 8, 2016. She was born July 8, 1924 in Surry County to Joe Dee and Mallie Jones Carson. Mrs. Shamel enjoyed entertaining for her family and friends. She was a homemaker and Charter member of the Pilot Mountain Garden Club where she served as President for many years. She was also a very dedicated member to her church family at Pilot Mountain Friends Meeting. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands Edward Snow in 1977, and Fred J. Shamel in 2004; one daughter Susan C. Snow; one son Edward Carson Snow; one sister Mary Francis Carson Woodhouse; and one brother William Jones Carson. She is survived by her son Joseph Earl Snow and wife Tammy of Pilot Mountain; a daughter-in-law Cheri B. Snow of Winston-Salem; a very special nephew Bob Cook of Pilot Mountain; and a beloved niece Wendy Carson of Florida along with a very special friend and care-giver Krystal Thomas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Pilot Mountain Friends Meeting located at 603 West Main Street, Pilot Mountain, with Dr. Frank Huffman officiating. The family will greet friends after the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pilot Mountain Friends Meetings' Building Fund 815 Carson Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
