Brenda Tate Arrington

April 28, 1952 — October 11, 2020

Brenda Tate Arrington, 68, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away Sunday October 11, 2020, after being diagnosed with a brain tumor in April, and then suffering a debilitating stroke in late September. Brenda was born on April 28, 1952 to the late Ralph Tate, and Irene Medley in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Relocating every few years with her late husband Dickie Arrington’s work, with whom she was married to for over thirty years, Brenda lived in Princeton, WV, Roanoke Rapids, NC, Collinsville, VA, Fredericksburg, VA, and Wytheville, VA before moving to Winston-Salem to be closer to her family. She was a people person and excelled in retail sales, working at, and managing several different clothing stores including Cato, Casual Corner, Kohl’s, and Chico’s. Her warmth and personality also helped her succeed in various banking and insurance positions she held. Brenda enjoyed hosting parties and get-togethers. She loved to take trips, although she never grasped the concept of “packing light”. She adored watching her grandkids’ activities and sporting events. She loved a trip to the movie theatre for any kind of movie (kids’ cartoon, drama, action, she loved them all) and eating popcorn (with extra, extra butter). Brenda baked a yellow cake with chocolate icing for all family events and birthdays and was known far and wide for her “hefty” sized cake slices. Memories with her will be cherished by her loved ones. Brenda wished to be cremated and there will be no service due to the current pandemic. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you honor Brenda by making new memories with your loved ones. Our time here is limited, and personal relationships and adventures are what make it memorable. The next time you are at the beach, turn up some Carolina beach music, put a Bloody Mary in your hand, and do a little shaggin’ in the sand for her. Brenda was preceded in death by her father; and a brother William “Billy” Medley. She is survived by her children Jennifer Corbin (Chris) of Winston-Salem, and Richard Arrington (Kristie) of Sharpsburg, Georgia; four grandchildren Quinn, Avery, Wyatt, and Ella Marie whom she adored, but she was a “Mimi” to many others as well; her mother; and her siblings Sandra Tate, Robert “Bobby” Tate, Deborah Hash, Edward Medley, and Greg Tate.
