Carolyn Hoeft Landreth, 79, of King, passed away Tuesday April 24, 2018. She was born in St. Paul Minnesota, October 19, 1938 to Fredrick William "Bill" and Louise Marie Elizabeth Thiers Hoeft. Carolyn graduated from the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota with a BA in Related Arts. She taught art to children during her early working years and then worked for many years for Bassett Furniture as well as Norling Studios expressing her artistic marvels through Interior Design. Carolyn loved life which was obvious in her infectious smile. Some of her favorite earthly pleasures were the arts, music, football (mostly Minnesota Vikings), the great gray wolf, snow, dogs of all kinds and the beautiful property she owned in King. Carolyn enjoyed traveling and any chance she could to take a ride up into the mountains to see autumns changing of the leaves. She enjoyed making jewelry and teaching art to anyone that was interested. Carolyn always had a kind word and compassion for anyone and was a joy to spend time with. She was a kind, loving and patient soul and her spirit will live on with everyone that was touched by her. She is survived by her first husband and life time friend Daniel Alois Schwalbe who she married in 1960; they adopted their daughter (Amy Lynn) in 1970 when Amy was just 8 days old; her second husband and soul mate Ricky "Rick" Sherrill Landreth whom she married in 1983 and with whom she owned One Way Architectural Antiques throughout the remainder of her life; her daughter Amy Lynn Schwalbe Baughman (Mark); granddaughter Austin Victoria (23); 2 great grandchildren Eden Lyla (4) and Mark "Abel" (3); as well as step daughter Zinnina Landreth; and grandson Thomas; and numerous extended family and friends. In lieu of a funeral or memorial service her life will be celebrated on October 19, 2018 (which would have been her 80th birthday) at her beloved home in King, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers she would have wanted people to donate to their charity or organization of their choice. She will be missed more then words can ever express but is with each and every one in the memories we all cherish!
