Cheryl Lively Martin

November 20, 1955 — December 4, 2020

Cheryl Denise Martin, 65, of Belews Creek, NC received her complete healing on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Novant Forsyth Medical Center following a fight against MS, with her loving family by her side. She was born on November 20, 1955 and was the daughter of Glen and Bertie Lou Lively. She worked for over 30 years as a caring, "going above and beyond" kind of nurse. Cheryl was known for her kindness and compassion towards her family, friends, and especially her granddaughter Layla who called her "Mimi". She enjoyed dancing, all the crafts, painting barn quilts, lake life, beach music, and the best family reunions in July of each year.  She was always in our corner. No matter who you were, you were treated like family, and there was always a place for you at her homes both in North Carolina and West Virginia. Anyone who knew her would recall her smile, her laugh and how she could light up a room or dance spot. She will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her. The precious memories and her joyful spirit will forever be imprinted in the hearts of those who knew her here on earth. She was preceded in death by her father; her sister Sheila Ann Lively; and her sister-in-law Jeannie Lively. Left to cherish her memory she is survived by her strong mother Bertie Lou Lively, loving daughter Tara Lone, husband Jj Lone, & joyful granddaughter Layla; adored son, Shawn Martin; she loved her children "no matter what"; brothers Ron Lively and Steve Lively; significant other Pete Ellis; her former husband Randy Martin (Sharon Mabe); and all of her amazing aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; and the whole extended family. A sincere thank you to the staff of Neuro 7th West and Neuro-ICU at Novant Forsyth Medical Center for the compassion and care provided to Cheryl during November. We are forever grateful. To the family members, friends, coworkers and community members who have reached out to us; your thoughts, prayer and kindness are much appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to bless the church that will have her celebration of life. Give — WSFirst.
