b. November 16, 1939

David M. Sabbagh, 79, of Winston-Salem died peacefully at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem, NC on Friday, April 26, 2019. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 16, 1939 to Michael Simon and Gladys Haddad Sabbagh. He moved with his family to the Cleveland, OH area in 1953 and graduated from Charles F Brush High School in 1956 and John Carroll University in 1960 with a BS degree in Biology. While attending college he was active in the school's ROTC program and was a member of the Persian Rifles, its precision drill team. After graduating from college he began a 30 year career with the US Government as a Federal Fish and Seafood Inspector. In 1990 he started an office machine business and was active in it until he retired in 1997 and moved to Winston-Salem. David enjoyed boating and fishing all of his adult life. He was a member of Power Squadron and the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. He taught many safe boating courses and advanced seamanship courses for these organizations and frequently volunteered his time to do safety patrols. He is a past commodore of the Cleveland chapter of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. He also enjoyed flying his radio controlled model airplanes and collecting O Gauge (Lionel) model trains. His vast collection of vintage Lionel trains was enjoyed by many, as well as his modern radio controlled trains. He was a member of the Winston Salem Model Railroad Club and frequently participated in their events and exhibits. Dave was a friend to everyone he met. He brought joy and happiness to his expansive family and network of friends. He will be missed by all who loved him. David was married for 17 years to his first wife, Judie and then 28 years to Teresa; both of whom passed away within the last 8 months and he was the oldest of 5 children. Is was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild Joshua; a brother Stephen; and sister Carol. He is survived by 3 children Carol Sabbagh, Beth SabbaghRabiotti and Michelle Sabbagh; He is Gido to his 7 grandchildren, David, Avi, Caleb, Rebekah, Jordan, Michaela, Aliah; brother Michael Sabbagh; sister Leslie; and Uncle Davey (Old Baldy) to his many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Services will be held at College Park Baptist Church, 1701 Polo Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at 2:00 pm with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MS Society 4601 Charlotte Park Drive Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28217 with acknowledgement to Beth Sabbagh Rabiotti at 3639 Cheshire Woods Dr., Winston Salem, NC 27106.
