Dean Dewitt Trivette

May 15, 1925 — July 26, 2019

Mr. Dean DeWitt Trivette, 94, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mr. Trivette was born in Winston-Salem, NC on May 15, 1925 to Frederick Bryant and Daisy Foster Trivette, Sr. A kind and generous man, Dean spent his life serving others and his Lord and Savior. An avid reader of the Bible, his children admired and respected him as a wonderful man who taught them how to live a Christian life. Mr. Trivette opened his heart and his home to everyone, welcoming them to his backyard pool and cooking the best barbeque ever. He never hesitated to help anyone in need and often did so anonymously. His sense of humor was contagious and no one could match his quick wit. He proudly and sacrificially served his country as a Merchant Marine during WWII. Mr. Trivette was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Frederick Bryant Trivette, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Martha Barefoot Trivette; two sons, Roger Dean Trivette (Susie) and Stephen Wayne Trivette; and one daughter, Nancy Trivette Vlcek; 4 grandchildren, Erin Norman (Kyle), Ashley King (Eric), Sarah Goudy and Foster Goudy; 13 great-grandchildren, Carter, Bradley, Chloe, Cadence, Emma, Abby, Pearce, Iverson, Landon, Kendall, Barrett, Amelia and Everette; and his sister Ethel Ledbetter (Mike). A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem, with Reverend Steve Pittman and Reverend Michael Ledbetter officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the North Carolina Baptist Children's Home, re: Davis House, 204 Idol Drive, Thomasville, NC 27361.
