Donald “Gene” Newsome Sr

Donald "Gene" Newsome, SR, 72, of Winston-Salem, passed away Peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Gene served in the US Army and retired from FedEx freight. He was preceded in death by his mother Katherine N. Allmond; and a sister Brenda Miller. Gene is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna Long Newsome; two sons Donald E. Newsome, Jr of Roanoke, VA and Kenneth W. Newsome and wife Cathy of King, NC; a brother Gary Newsome; four grandchildren Kyle and Kole Newsome and Chase and Kaitlyn Newsome; and one great-grandchild Kalix Newsome. A celebration of Life will be held 3:30 PM Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in the fellowship hall at New Friendship Baptist Church, 4258 Old Lexington Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
