Duane Allen "Pop" Cox, 86, of Advance passed away Tuesday March 12, 2019. He was born May 11, 1932 in Randolph County, Indiana to Guy and Mary Stroder Cox. A hardworking man, Mr. Cox was a police officer and fireman in Union City, Indiana. He also worked for the city there. In 1978, Mr. Cox later moved to North Carolina and was an employee of Crown Wood in Mocksville for 24 years, a job in which he was able to utilize his talent and passion for wood working. He was known as a very pleasant and good-natured man. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brad Cox; 4 brothers, Ronald Cox, Richard Cox, Lowell Cox, Edwin Cox and 3 sisters, Ilene Alexander, Mary Staley, and Judy Erwin. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Cox; 3 sons, Paul Cox (Charity Kiser - girlfriend), Michael Cox (Crystal) and Wayne Cox; 3 daughters, Melissa Davis (Dennis), Theresa Smith (Kevin) and Beverly Bradwell; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother Ivan Cox. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Twin City Cremations and Funeral Home, 122 North Spruce Street, Winston-Salem, NC, with Rev. Gary Byrum officiating.
