Emma Grey Steelman Mansfield, 89, of Winston-Salem passed away at the Danby House in Winston-Salem on Monday January 22, 2018. She was born February 16, 1928 in Hamptonville, Yadkin County, North Carolina to William Stanford and Stella Everhart Steelman. Mrs. Mansfield attended Mitchell Community College in Statesville, NC. She was employed by Central Carolina Bank, Yadkinville, NC for nineteen years and Wachovia Bank in Winston-Salem, NC where she retired after fifteen years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for many years. She made an anatomical gift to the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center - School of Medicine in Winston-Salem. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert E. Mansfield, her sister Pearl Steelman Poole, and her brother-in-law Robert Wade Poole. She is survived by her nephews Robert W. Poole, Jr. (Angie) of Little River, SC and William Jackson Poole (Sarah Cheney) of Clemmons, NC; her great niece, Mollie Greer Poole and great nephew, Jackson Davis Poole; five step-children, Tony E. Mansfield, Dana M. Hall, Kenneth L. Mansfield, Marty M. Durham, and Edgar L. Powell; seven step-children by previous marriage and several step-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Flat Rock Baptist Church cemetery in Hamptonville, NC at a later date.
