Hannah Borden Flippin Whitt was born to Joe and Jettie Flippin on August 2nd, 1929 in Stokes County, North Carolina. The middle daughter of tobacco farmers moved to Winston-Salem in 1947 to go to Business College and start her career. From Commercial Credit to Security Life to McLean Trucking Company to the Department of Social Services, she excelled at every station along her way. She married and had two sons, and worked tirelessly to make sure everyone was taken care of. She lived what was at that time a conventional life. But for those who were fortunate to know her, she was so much more than that. Her life was rich and full and long. On Saturday August 8th, 2020 she was summoned home to start the next chapter in the Book of Borden. She was preceded in death by her sister Edith, her Mother and Father, and her beloved cat BooBoo. She is survived by her sister Ruth, her son Michael and daughter in law Susan Hirsch, and her son Mark. As well as life long friends Olivia Tucker and Daisy Kuzio. The imprint she left is indelible. You are so loved. Rest easy pretty lady. Yours was a life well lived.
