Ingeborg A. Genoe, 83, of Kernersville, NC, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Kernersville Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of George W. Genoe, with whom she recently celebrated 63 years of marriage on January 26th. Born on October 22, 1941, in Danzig, West Prussia, Inge was the daughter of the late Oskar and Auguste (Knopf) Gatz. As a young girl, she and her family fled East Germany to Pirmasens, West Germany. At the age of 14, she began working in a local shoe factory. Inge later met and married George while he was serving in the U.S. Army. Together, they raised their family during numerous military tours across the United States and Europe before eventually settling in Coopersburg, PA. She worked for many years as a custodian in both the Quakertown and Southern Lehigh school districts, retiring in 2001. In her retirement, she enjoyed making floral arrangements, and selling them at local craft shows. Inge and George moved to Kernersville, NC in January 2024.Inge was known as ‘Oma’ to her family and was devoted to her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Inge was predeceased by her brother, Werner, and two sisters Brigitte and Irmgard. She is survived by her husband George; daughter Christine Weiss and husband Kevin; son James and his wife Kathleen; and Grandchildren, John (Sarah), Amanda (Raghav), Ashley, and Helen; and her beloved German Shepherd Roxy. Inge was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran (Blue) Church in Coopersburg, PA. Contributions can be made to the church or Animals in Distress, Coopersburg, PA. A private service will be held in her honor.
