Joseph Paul Jacobson

August 30, 1952 — September 24, 2022

Joseph Paul Jacobson, 70, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022.  Joseph was born in New York City, August 30, 1952, to Harold and Arline Jacobson.  He was fondly known as Jo or JJ to everyone that knew him.  Jo was a graduate of Walt Whitman High School in 1970.  He continued to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Franconia College.    After graduation, much of his career was spent as a stage manager for Broadway and Off-Broadway productions and General Manager of several successful restaurants and catering businesses in New York City.  After moving to Winston-Salem, Jo opened his own catering business, J. Breton’s Catering.  After retirement, Jo became involved in the Boy Scouts of America and volunteered several years and worked many summers as the camp Chaplain at Camp Raven Knob where he enjoyed spending time with his sons and serving others at the camp.  It was at Camp Raven Knob where Jo was awarded the Order of the Arrow - Vigil Honor which is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon its members for distinguished and exceptional service and personal effort to the lodge, council, and Scouting.  Jo always had a great story to tell and was warm and engaging to everyone he met.  When he met a stranger, they always parted as if they were life-long friends.  Jo was preceded in death by his parents; and in August his wife of 32 years, Rosemary Jacobson.  Jo is survived by his daughter, Hannah Jacobson; two sons of the home, Rusty Jacobson (17) and Jacob Jacobson (16);  his brother Alan Jacobson (June); his sister Lori Weissman (Paul); his nieces Alyssa Mosure, Sara Jones, Elana Raiola, Alanna Weissman, Lauren McDaniel; his nephew Jonathan Stafford.  A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Clemmons United Methodist Church with Reverend Jonathan Stafford officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Raven Knob to be used for the Chapel c/o Old Hickory Council at 6600 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
