Joyleen Lelia (Nicholson) Lawson

Joyleen Lelia (Nicholson) Lawson of Kernersville, NC passed away at her home on January 17, 2025. She was born on August 28, 1951 to the late Kathleen Lutencie Smith Nicholson and James Hazlett Nicholson, Sr. in Nebraska. She was also proceeded in death by her husband Clarence Samuel Lawson and brother James Hazlett Nicholson, Jr.

She is survived by her son Jeremy Adam Lawson (Stephanie) of Virginia, her sister in law Constance Goehring Nicholson of Alabama, and Sandra Lawson of Virginia. Also surviving are nieces Kathleen Nicholson Chester (RJ) of Georgia, Kelly Nicholson Emerson (Brad) of Alabama, and Kathryn (Katie) Nicholson Pettit (Ryan) of Alabama as well as several nephews. Also longtime friends Patty (Billy), Val, and Leslie (Jay), as well as all her friends at Gateway Place Apartments.

She taught elementary and middle school for over 45 years at Kerwin Baptist Christian School and Gospel Light Christian School. After retiring she continued to tutor for several years. She enjoyed going to church at Kerwin Baptist Church and spending time with friends and family
