Kristi Mills Rolison, 59, of Winston-Salem, beloved wife, mother, pastor, sister and friend, died Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She bravely fought Triple Negative breast cancer in 2015 and was declared cancer free. The cancer returned in 2017 and ultimately did not respond to treatment. She is finally at peace and no longer in pain. Kristi was born January 10, 1959 in Cliffside, NC, the second child of John Edward and Barbara Sparks Mills. When Kristi was two years old, the family moved to Mt. Airy where she grew up, graduating from Mt. Airy High School in 1977 and from High Point College in 1981 with a degree in Gerontology. Kristi's early career was spent as a Social Worker at the Baptist Retirement Home in Winston-Salem and then with Hospice of Davidson County, Hospice of Forsyth County as well as Crisis Control Ministries. She answered a call to ordained ministry and in 2000 entered WFU School of Divinity where she earned a Master of Divinity degree. She graduated in 2003 and faithfully served two congregations as their pastor - First Presbyterian Church in Pilot Mountain, NC and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg, VA. Kristi was a gifted preacher, a strong administrator and a caring pastor. Kristi is survived by her husband of 32 years, Phillip Rolison; two sons, Alex, of Greenville, TN, and Ben, of High Point, NC; sister, Ellen Mills Bergland (Bob) of Wilson; and brother, John Mills, Jr. (Ginny) of Winston-Salem; eight nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in law, Harry and Janet Rolison of Winston-Salem; brother-in-law, Danny Rolison, of Knightdale; sister-in-law Audrey Weil (Ken) of Darien, Conn.; brother-in-law Alan York (Becky) of Lewisville;and a host of friends and church members who loved and admired her. Kristi was a light to all who knew her and a clear voice for those less fortunate. The family would like to thank Dr. Nick Chrysson and staff at Forsyth Cancer Center for their attentive care and treatment of Kristi over the past 3 years and the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their compassionate care of Kristi at the end of her life. A celebration of life will be held Saturday April 21, 2018 11:30 AM at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem, officiated by Reverend Doctor Carl Utley, with a private, family inurnment in the church columbarium. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Kate B.
