Martha Barefoot Trivette, 93, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020. Martha was born in Dunn, NC December 19, 1926 to George Rufus and Ada Jackson Barefoot. She was a graduate of the 2nd graduating class of the North Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing which is now Wake Forest Baptist Health. Martha was loved by everyone who knew her and she always had an infectious smile on her face. She was a true southern cook and all her family and friends loved her cooking. Her grandchildren loved how she made fried squash and French toast, as well as her outstanding home made ice cream. Martha had a candy drawer that all her grandchildren made their way to every time they came to see her. She had the gift of hospitality and welcomed anyone that came to visit. Martha was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was an extraordinary lady that was married to the love of her life for 72 years. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dean Trivette; five brothers, and one sister. She is survived by two sons, Roger Dean Trivette (Susie) and Stephen Wayne Trivette ; one daughter, Nancy Trivette Vlcek; 4 grandchildren, Erin Norman (Kyle), Ashley King (Eric), Sarah Goudy and Foster Goudy; 13 great-grandchildren, Carter, Bradley, Chloe, Cadence, Emma, Abby, Pearce, Iverson, Landon, Kendall, Barrett, Amelia and Everette; and two sisters Sara Jackson, and Willa Baker. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev Steve Pittman officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the North Carolina Baptist Children’s Home, re: Davis House, 204 Idol Drive, Thomasville, NC 27361.
