Michael Lloyd Hovey

Michael Lloyd Hovey, 42,  passed away unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon, June 20, 2024 after spending the morning working with his father and the afternoon working with friends.

Michael was born on August 22, 1981 to Herb and Sheila Rudolph Hovey in Winton-Salem.  Michael was a graduate of West Forsyth High School and studied at Forsyth Technical Community College.  Michael had become an excellent HVAC technician in the family business, HH Hovey Heating and Cooling.

Michael was such a special and unique creation of God.   He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding Dirt Bikes, and exploring God’s creation outdoors.  He also had a passion for motorcycles and cars.   He was definitely “one of a kind” who could light up a room with his smile, and make sure no one in his presence ever felt like a stranger.   Michael was always willing to go the extra mile, sharing his time and giftedness in HVAC repair with customers as if they were family.

Michael always encouraged, uplifted, and supported others and wanted all he knew to discover the peace and joy he had found in his own relationship with the Lord.     1 Corinthians 13:7 says “love bears all things, believes all things, endures all things” and Michael certainly never gave up on a love like that.

Michael is survived by his wife Carmela; and a son Liam whom he loved with his whole heart; his parents; without a doubt, the family he and Carmela created and the son God gave them was the crowning accomplishment of his life.    He also leaves behind cousins, aunts, uncles, and an army of friends who loved him as well as he loved them.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at Robinhood Road Baptist Church, Saturday June 29, 2024 beginning at 2:00 PM with a time for family and friends to gather afterward in the fellowship hall to remember, grieve, and celebrate his life.  Rev.
