Otho Bud Mcmanus Jr

b. July 2, 1942

Otho Bud McManus, Jr. affectionately known as "Bud", 75, of Clemmons lost his battle here on earth with dementia and gained his wings in heaven Thursday, March 22, 2018. He was born July 2, 1942 in Charlotte, NC to Otho and Lugene McManus. During Bud's time here on earth he was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church for more than 20 years, where he was an ordained minister and sang in several of the choirs. For many years he was chief of rescue for the South East Winston Rescue Squad where he did what he enjoyed doing most, helping others. Over the years Bud acquired many degrees, all of them lead to what he did best, "handyman" work. Bud had a love for Wake Forest basketball and football, which he always attended. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Odessa McManus; and brother Joseph McManus. Bud is survived by his wife Gertrude Reed McManus; his children Nathaniel McManus, Otho McManus, III (Carla), Odessa Renee McManus, Artessa McManus Garner Gross (Timothy), Carra Christensen-Williams (Larry); 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; two nieces Tatia Brooks, and Michelle Brooks; 2 nephews Joseph "Jodi" Brooks, and Rashad Jones. There will be a private funeral service for the family. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 3 PM until 4 PM at Twin City Cremations. The family would like to express its deepest appreciation for the care and companionship given to Bud by the staff at Trinity Elms in Clemmons, NC Memory Care and any other staff that came in contact with him. The family would also like to thank Community Home Care and Hospice in Statesville for the comfort care they provided.
