Rickie Dean Childress

January 29, 1969 — November 4, 2020

Rickie Dean Childress, 51, of Thomasville died Wednesday November 4, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born January 29, 1969 to Garnet and Mary James Childress. As a young man, he loved to go to the beach, fishing and spending time with his family. He loved working on cars, even recently, he acquired a Corvette and it was not much when he bought it but it was a beauty when he finished it. Music was also a passion of his and he would jam out in the car and the house.  He loved shooting pool and was always good at it. He competed in pool tournaments constantly and taught my brother and I how to play and do trick shots. To this day, he still loved to play and even owned his own pool table. Dad loved to laugh and joke, it was just in his nature. He was a colorful character and full of life. Dad was friendly and kind and would always help others in need and his devotion and love for animals is a tribute to the beauty of his heart and soul. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known him. Dad contributed as an organ donor thru the Division of Motor Vehicles in 2017. His eyes donated to Miracles in Sight to allow someone to see again, in this action of kindness he will live on. He will be honored for his love, hard work and dedication and supporting his family. Our father was such a beloved man. I am not sure how I can really express just how much I will miss him. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, best friend and colleague… and so much more. He was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his father Garnet Childress of Mount Airy NC; daughter D’Lynn Tate of Walnut Cove NC; son Cody Childress of the home; and sister Susie Childress; along with loving granddaughter Braylee Childress of King NC. A celebration of Life for Rickie will be held at a later date.
